Based on the report released by Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) last week outlining the top 10 most frequently stolen vehicles in Canada, InsuranceHotline.com has prepared auto insurance quotes for these cars to identify and provide discoveries of results. We’ve used our insurance quoting engine to develop a range of insurance rates for the top 10 most stolen vehicles, which helps us see if there are any trends and/or similarities between likelihood of theft and insurance premiums.
The top 10 most frequently stolen vehicles in Canada, according to IBC are as follows:

Car insurance quotes have been prepared on all 10 cars, based on one identical driving profile — 40 year old male, living in Toronto, Ontario with a clean driving record. The cost to insure the above cars, in order from lowest to highest insurance rates, are (order of most stolen vehicle list in brackets below):

The top most stolen vehicle, 2009 Toyota Venza 4-door, is in fact the fourth cheapest vehicle to insure of all the stolen vehicles. Although there might now be a stigma that the Venza will cost more to insure because it has a high rate of theft, this does not seem to be the case based on the rates currently available within our network. Honda Civics appear to have the highest insurance rates compared to the other vehicles on the list, which may be caused by the amount of claims processed against these vehicles or perhaps the safety features on these vehicles since they are older cars, in addition to the fact that they appear on the top 10 stolen cars list. Comparing car insurance quotes is the best way for consumers to save money on auto insurance. Even if they find out that they cannot save money, they will have peace of mind knowing that they are currently paying a favourable rate.
